Transform Windows XP into Linux Ubuntu without using Customization Pack

If you are using Windows XP but want to enjoy the Linux Ubuntu look, then this tutorial will help you. After following this tutorial, you will get the same Linux Ubuntu look in your Windows XP.

How to Install Ubuntu icons?
Run ‘IconTweaker and install. Then simply run IconTweaker from the start menu and drag ‘Ubuntu Icontweaker Theme’ into the window.

3. Boot Screen

How to Install Boot Skin?
There are two alternative methods to Install Ubuntu Boot Screen on Windows XP i.e. TuneUp Utilities & Boot Skin Installer.

1. TuneUp Utilities (2007, 2008, 2009 Version)
Open “TuneUp Utilities” > Customize Windows > TuneUp Styler > Boot Skin > Add. (Find Ubuntu Boot Skin Folder,
where “ubuntu.bootskin” Exist, Select “ubuntu.bootskin” then Click on Install.

2. BootSkin Installer (Provided In Folder)
Run ‘BootSkin Installer’ and install BootSkin. Run the program and drag ‘ubuntu.bootskin’ into the window.
Now simply set it as the bootskin.

4. Ubuntu Cursor

5. About Ubuntu Dialog Box

To change the About Windows box you’ll need to change 2 things: The top logo and the text part.

Open “%windir%\System32\Shell32.dll” file in Resource Hacker and then replace following BITMAPs with the downloaded BMP file:

Bitmap -> 131 -> 1033 (For XP Professional)
Bitmap -> 147 -> 1033 (For XP Home)

Now open %windir%\System32\msgina.dll file in Resource Hacker and then replace following BITMAPs with the downloaded BMP file:

Bitmap -> 101 -> 1033 (For XP Professional)
Bitmap -> 107 -> 1033 (For XP Professional)
Bitmap -> 128 -> 1033 (For XP Home)
Bitmap -> 129 -> 1033 (For XP Home)

Now to change the text of dialog box, open “%windir%\System32\xpsp1res.dll” file in Resource Hacker and then goto:

Dialog -> 14352 -> 1033

Now replace the existing code in right-side pane with the code in following file:

About Dialog Box Code

Click on Compile Script button and save the file.

6. Shutdown Dialog Box

7. Ubuntu Firefox Skin

How to install?
To install, open Firefox, go to ‘Tools’ > ‘Add-ons’, and drag ‘ubuntu_human_theme-2.0.4-fx‘ into the Add-ons window. Restart Firefox and select the theme from the list.

NOTE: Only for Firefox 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, 2.0.3, 2.0.4

How to Install Styler Skin?
Run ‘Styler Installer’ and install Styler. Copy ‘Human’ folder and paste in ‘C:\Program Files\Styler\TB\skins’ (drive letter may vary). Run Styler from start menu, and select the Human theme from the Toobar tab. Open any Explorer window, right click the Address Bar, uncheck’Standard Buttons’ and ‘Address Bar’, and check ‘Stadard Buttons.

For faster loading at boot, open styler and check off ‘StylerTB Mode’ in the info tab.
