How to Make Your Windows XP Desktop Look Like a Windows Vista Aero Desktop
If you use the default Microsoft Windows XP graphical interface, you could use a “look and feel” overhaul. Microsoft Vista’s new Aero interface is considered to be cleaner, more intuitive, and more customizable. The following instructions will show you how to get the Vista Aero look for Windows XP by installing a free kit. Some of the instructions may be too advanced for some users, but give it a try.
- Visit Softpedia’s download page for the Vista Transformation Pack 8.0.1 Final.
- Download and install the pack.

i’ve used vtp 8.0.1 as well as 9.0.1 (the latest as of now). to everyone who wish to transform their 2k/xp gui to vista/win7 lookalike, i’d recommend NOT to use any transformation packs. vtp as well as another one, viz. vistapackxp, make heavy use of 3rd party utilities like true transparency and visual task tips. if you have a core2quad system with 16gb ram plus dedicated graphics pipeline with quad core graphics processor cards in sli operation, oh, alongwith 160gb 15k rpm scsi disks, they can try these packs. for the rest of us stuck up with cheaper <25k machines, i’d advise that we all take in some high-level knowledge of system tweaking from sites like askvg.com, and start our own manual customizations. for fx like aero transparency, tasktips, 3dflip, software programmers worldwide are developing such likes in masm32. so we can expect very fast apps that don’t crunch our precius ram chips.
